Hey, I really like and appreciate what you guys are doing, but I have a question. Are we supposed to breath like this while actually practicing yoga, or is this some sort of warm-up?
If this is just a warm-up, then how should we breathe while performing yoga? Through the stomach? Through the chest?

This is more to teach you that you can breathe to different parts of the lung . For example if you are in a strong twist for the lower belly you might only breathe mostly to the top of the lung for the in and out . Other moves you might want to let the air out of the top portion of the chest first . The main thing is to be aware of what is going on and keep the rhythm constant . Do what feels correct for the move . There are a lot of theories on breathing for different traditions.

what does it mean to observe the space?
It is kind of impossible to explain, as it is an experience that is beyond words that is just an idea to send you in the correct direction . Here is another idea observe the observer or place the attention on the attention itself. This may at first seem very abstract and hard to grasp in terms of practical application, but this is a workable, time-proven method for achieving this state of pure consciousness which when consistently applied and practiced are bound to yield results.
Observe the space is way of stopping distractions to temporarily suspend the breathing process by neither breathing in or out. Since breathing is intimately tied to every biological process in the body, the instinct to survive (developed over billions of years ) will interrupt the flow of attention into distractions and bring it to center on the awareness of the experience of breathing. Then resume breathing and center the attention on the breathing being practiced.

Well i am not a fit guy at all… so i want to make a positive change into my life. I just wish to know what i should do in the first 2-3 months of doing yoga? I am also starting resistance training excercises. I am 19 years old. Thanks

I’m far from fit and overweight. I practiced the breathing exercise and it makes my back hurt.. am I not doing it right or is my posture really that bad??
Your knees need to be below your hips . So sit on what ever height you need to to make this happen. Yoga is about finding where our own limits are and start working from there.

if you ve never done it before – you will feel your back and other muscles after your first breathing practice. the fit and waight doesnot mattes. what matters is just your wish to continue to practice:) you should fell the results in a month or so
This is Aerobic breathing. How you breathe can mean the difference between healing and sickness.
Poor breathing is a lot like dragging a ball and chain around that we can never release from. The human system will begin to disorganize and die after several minutes without oxygen. Yoga will certainly help . You first need to learn the basics. You can’t Run to Lose weight before you can walk . Yoga is the same. You have to learn the basics before you can use it for cardio. What you eat is very important. Educate yourself . Getting away from Sugar and Trans Fats is a good place to start .
Stick at it the biggest benefits are gained over time .
