Jogging Tips for Beginner Runners
New joggers may encounter some difficulties, especially when it comes to stamina, knee pain, and muscle aches and spasms. The good news is that these problems are avoidable if you follow these steps:
1. Learn what “jogging” means. Jogging is a form of low impact exercise that involves running at a slow pace of about six miles per hour (or less if you’re a beginner).
2. Jog at the best time of day. The best time to jog is in the early morning hours. You have more energy than you think and the air is fresher in the morning with a higher oxygen content. You’ll find this air easier on tired lungs.
3. Choose the best place for jogging. Again, maximum oxygen is key to a successful job. Therefore, a garden or park filled with trees is optimal.
4. Choose the right jogging clothing. You’ll want to wear something lightweight and loose. Tight clothing will inhibit proper perspiration…and sweating is good! It shows that you’re body is burning calories and that you’re losing weight!
5. Prepare your stomach for your jog. Try not to eat before you go for your morning jog, but rather drink about a half liter of water. You don’t want to be so full of water that you feel the water sloshing around in your belly as you run, but you also want to make sure that you’re adequately hydrated. If you must get some calories in you before your run, drink some citrus juice. You can bring some juice with you for energizing breaks.
6. Warm up your muscles before you go. A big of cardiovascular activity and some deep stretches will warm up your body for what’s to come. It’ll boost your energy level and make sure that your muscles don’t go into shock or overextend during your jog.
7. Last, don’t judge yourself. At first you’ll probably only be able to jog for a few minutes at a time, that’s fine. Take walking breaks, stop and take some deep breaths, and then try and jog for a few more minutes. Before you know it, your stamina will be up, you’ll lose weight, get in shape, and say goodbye to dieting and diet pills for good!
