Exercises to Help You Beat Stress and Tame Anxiety
Everybody experiences stress every now and then. What’s important is how you deal with your stress. One healthy and proven method to fight stress, anxiety, and even help you fall asleep at night is regular exercise. Whether you need help to slow yourself down and relax or to get yourself up and moving, exercise can be the key to regulating your stress and increasing your quality of life.
Exercises to treat stress and anxiety:
Most people who suffer from stress and anxiety find that yoga, stretching, or even meditation or deep breathing helps them feel more calm and relaxed. Try a combination of deep relaxing exercises like those that focus on deep breathing, flexibility, and strength and some more intense exercise like kick boxing. More strenuous, cardiovascular workouts will cause an endorphin release. This helps eliminate stress and creates a relaxed feeling in the body.
Of course, for some people, the best approach to fighting anxiety is a combination of regular physical exercise and anti anxiety medication such as Klonopin, Valium, or Ativan.
Exercise to help you fall asleep:
If you have trouble sleeping, you might want to reach for those ever popular sleep aids such as Imovane or Ambien. While they may work wonders, why not try some exercise and relaxation techniques. You may find that you are able to achieve the same results as you do with medications. First keep to a regular routine of cardiovascular workouts like running or using an elliptical machine. Not only does this exercise release endorphins in the body, but it also gives you a chance to escape from the stresses of the day and clear your mind. When it’s time to go to bed, create a dark, calming atmosphere, and practice some deep breathing and meditation to relax your mind and body.

I had a hysterectomy 4 weeks ago and I am undergoing some anxiety and stress issues. Yes I am very saddened by the fact I cannot have kids and never had kids. Although I know I can adopt, it just isn’t the same yet. My body is constantly restless and I can’t seem to sit still for more than a couple of minutes. My muscles feel very tense and have to constantly move around. I am also having anxiety attacks that just don’t want to go away. I ended up going to urgent care yesterday in which they gave me medicine to help calm me and to not have many mood swings. However, I am still very restless and wanted to know if there are any at home exercises that will help me relax and not feel so anxious.
Thank you
